Central Heights Student Council hosted the Veteran’s Day ceremony on Friday, November 10. The program honored all veterans in the community and brought all of the school together for this special day. The Student Council officers spoke during the ceremony and organized the event.
Prior to the ceremony, FCCLA cooked breakfast for the veterans and served it in the library. This time was for veterans to enjoy the food and socialize with other heroes.
The Central Heights band played patriotic songs, including the National Anthem and “Armed Forces on Parade.” Elementary students visited and sang to honor the heroes. “We Love the USA” and “America” highlighted their performance. Middle school students in Mrs. Hay’s English class wrote poems for a contest, and the winners read at the ceremony. Presley Ngo, Sammy Showman, and Bella Penney won and honored the veterans with their poems.
Guest speaker Kenneth Thomas, who had 20 years of service, came and spoke to the audience. He encouraged others to be intentional about whatever they were going to do in their life. Then, Principal Stephen Cox closed the ceremony with some inspiring words.
