On Monday April 22, students and teachers celebrated Earth Day by having outdoor classes and soaking up the sunshine. This year Earth Day outdoor classes were organized by Dr. Michelle Coker to allow teachers to sign up for their outdoor class time.
Many classes spent the majority of the day playing games, soaking in vitamin D, and just overall having a fun-filled day.
“My class celebrated Earth Day by being outside having fun,” Wayne Grissom Said. “It’s a beautiful day on the beautiful earth.”
Nature is a big part of our planet and it’s important to take care of it and appreciate its value.
“My class was outside picking berries, flowers, and observing all the beautiful nature around us,” Bethany Griffith said. “Earth Day is all about appreciating nature and admiring how beautiful it really is.”
Having the opportunity to spend the day outside allowed students and teachers to get a break from being stuck inside dark classrooms all day.
“I enjoyed going outside because it was a good break from being in the classroom all day,” sophomore Jakenzie Gallien said. “It was most definitely a boost in my mental health.”
