The 2024 presidential race was intense as former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris faced each other on election day, Tuesday, November 5.
Every vote counted as polls were closer than ever. The states that consistently vote Republican, like Texas, turned up red in this election, while the usual Democratic states, such as California, were blue. The swing state that held the most power in this election was Pennsylvania. It was possible for the candidates to win without having Pennsylvania’s electoral votes, but it would have been much more difficult. In the end, Trump won over every swing state including Pennsylvania.
After not receiving the popular vote in 2016, Trump won both the electoral and popular vote in 2024. Ultimately, he came out victorious. Trump is now officially the second president to serve two nonconsecutive terms, which means that on January 20, 2025, Trump will be inaugurated as the president of the United States once again.
