As basketball season continues, the Central Heights girls’ basketball team is now approaching the district games. The number of wins in district games is crucial toward their ticket to the playoffs. Today is the Lady Devil’s first district game at Angelina College against Pineywoods Christian Academy, a private school in Lufkin.
For this 2024-25 basketball season, the girls’ team word is “TOUGH.” This word takes on a deep meaning for the coaches and the players. This is an acronym placed on their shirts and in their minds.
“Tough means our Team will Overcome and Understand that Genuine Hard work will accomplish greatness. We really focus on the genuine part of that,” said Coach Templeton. “Being tough is mental, and it’s doing the hard things.”
The CH girls’ basketball team advanced to the playoffs last season. This year, the girls are planning to expand their horizons at the playoff level. Fans can expect their skills and performance to be more advanced this year.
“We are going to build on our experience from last year,” Templeton said. “We have a lot of the same teammates, so we are able to execute and do a little more with our game plans this year.”
