Track season has begun with practices every day but Friday’s.
The first meet will be in Hudson on Thursday, Feb. 27.
This year’s track team’s phrase is “Why not us?” This motto means that CH track athletes should pour out everything they have inside their body and spirit for months of intense training. They also sacrifice their time and effort to achieve their goals. This motto is placed on their shirts and in their minds to help serve as a source of motivation and team pride.
“The way we practice, compete, and conduct ourselves on and off the track should give no reason why we shouldn’t be the ones to clinch those spots,” varsity track coach Kerry Gleason said. “‘Why not us’ is also about believing that you deserve the reward, and that the hard work and dedication to your craft is worthy of advancing. When others skip reps or are giving 100% during the workout or faking sick to skip practices, we don’t. That’s what our motto is all about.”
Last year, the team had six girls advance to the are meet. This year, the team is looking to go further and possibly make it to state.
