The Central Heights Beta Club went to their first Texas Beta Convention in Dallas, Texas, at the Gaylord Convention Center last weekend. Grades 9-12 competed in competitions and brought home a number of awards.
The Texas Beta Convention offered a unique opportunity for students to participate in a variety of competitions, workshops, and networking events. Competitions have enough variety for students to show off their different skills. Additionally, leadership workshops and motivational speeches inspired attendees to become active leaders in their communities.
The following students won medals: Luke Davis placed first place in spelling, Scarlett Penney placed second in Division II Creative Writing, Calla Rudolph placed third place in 11th grade Language arts, Skylar Chung placed fourth place in 12th grade Math and Logan Brown, Christina Farmer, Trystene Manto, and Layla Soto placed fifth place in the Book Battle Team.
In the Visual Arts competitions, Jon Mark McClain placed second place in Division II Drawing, Izabella Penney placed third place in Division I Fiber Arts, Camryn Mays placed fourth place in Division II Hand-drawn Anime and Jon Mark McClain placed fifth place in Division II Onsite Drawing.
