Family Career Community Leaders of America Club hosted a back-to-school party in sponsor Cindy Nichols’ room to welcome back current and new members on Thursday, Sept. 4.
To prepare for this meeting, the FCCLA officers worked on presentations and activities.
“We created a Google Slides presentation to share with new members, so they can know what FCCLA is all about,” junior officer Kate Sparks said. “We also made lots of food and games for members to have fun.”
When asked how the party went, they described it as a big success.
“The meeting went great,” junior officer Bella Downing said. “We had lots of members come back from the summer and had a great beginning of the school year. We had lots of fun, games and food.”
Sparks also shared the reason why they hosted the event.
“This was a recruitment meeting, so we intended for lots of people to show up, have fun, and learn about the club so that they will want to join,” Sparks said.
The officers emphasized what new members can expect from the club and from representatives moving forward.
“They can look forward to having new information as well as new opportunities for FCCLA,” Downing said. “This meeting showed the possible STARR events and other ways you can be involved within the club.”
The officers outlined the upcoming events that the current and new members can look forward to.
“We have a meeting coming up this Friday during lunch for all students interested in joining, and we have FCCLA recruitment week soon,” Sparks said. “During recruitment week, students can get snacks and prizes for joining the club.”
Looking ahead, leaders explained their overall goals for the club.
“My goal in the future for FCCLA would definitely have to be more involvement within our chapter,” Downing said. “I would like our chapter to make a significant difference in the world of FCCLA.”
