FCA has officially kicked off for the 2025-26 school year. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes group holds meetings on the second, third, and fourth Fridays of the month. This club focuses on the strong foundation of Jesus by bringing faith, fun and fellowship to the Central Heights community.
The student leaders of FCA benefit the club by bringing a sense of togetherness. It helps the audience feel as if they aren’t alone in their walk with Christ.
“Everyone that attends is a student just like the leaders,” senior FCA leader Garner Rodriguez said, “so the leaders can relate to the group. I think the reason that FCA is so successful is because everyone has the same mindset and like the saying goes, ‘iron sharpens iron.’”
This group is also helpful towards the growth of faith and sharing the Good News with others.
“I am so excited about being on the high school campus,” FCA sponsor John Vandover said. “One of those reasons is FCA. What a great organization and vehicle to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to our students.”
The evangelism that the group presents is evident to multiple staff members and teachers.
“With us having an FCA on both the middle school and high school campus,” FCA sponsor Logan Smoak said, “it is a great resource to spread the word, fellowship with other students and grow in our faith!”
This year, the sponsors and leaders of FCA are planning some fun and exciting activities for students involved in the group.
“I am hoping we will have the opportunity to attend an FCA Gameday at a university this year,” Vandover said. “These are always exciting trips to college campuses where you get to watch a college game and take a tour of a campus.”
