Once a year, Thanksgiving comes around towards the end of November. This is a period where we focus on meeting with family and friends, sharing a big feast, and focusing on the importance of gratitude. However, Thanksgiving shouldn’t be the only time of the year where we focus on being thankful.
Being grateful around Thanksgiving is relatively easy, as the word “thanks” is literally a part of the holiday’s name. However, why don’t we go into every day focused on being happy about the things that we already have? Just because we aren’t celebrating a holiday doesn’t mean that we can’t continue this practice.
So what can we do to show our appreciation for the privileges that we have in life? Well, the simple act of saying “thank you” to someone can go a long way. This is also a great way to build relationships, as it shows that you value their actions. Another example is to keep your mindset on what you have, not on what you DON’T have. By naturally thinking about what you want, it’s going to bog you down with thoughts of ungratefulness, but if you focus on what you already own, it will help to work on becoming grateful for all the little things in life.
Overall, let’s try to maintain a grateful attitude regardless of the time of year that we are in. If we can have a positive attitude and outlook on life all the time, then maybe we can get others to try to feel the same way as well. Remember: it’s not the food and feasts that are important, but rather the mindset.
