When the chance of snow comes around, students pray for it to come. Just the thought of having a day off from school makes students want the extreme winter weather. However, they overlook the difficulties that come with a freeze. Enduring freezing temperatures is definitely not worth having an additional day off.
Asking for this kind of weather is asking for a disaster to happen. People are forced to withstand the cold weather rather than being able to enjoy it. As a result, they begin to stock up on necessities, leaving stores with low stock of essentials. This has even caused a panic among the residents in a town in the past. Not to mention, power outages have often come with these storms. Families are left in the dark during these times, all while being forced to suffer in the cold. Of course, the winter storm in 2021 reminded most, but not all, Texans to stay prepared. Some families simply are not able to get access to the resources to prepare for the cold.
In conclusion, having a singular day off of school is not worth the tradeoff of going through a winter freeze. The cold causes too much stress upon families despite having the day off.
