For many high school students, Homecoming is the highlight of the year. The annual dances bring opportunities to make memories and have fun with friends. The basketball games boost school spirit and bring together the CHISD community, giving students the chance to recognize alumni, faculty and current students.
At the dances, students are able to interact with each other outside of school and education, helping to grow and strengthen relationships.
“I like getting to hang out with my friends in a place that isn’t about learning,” senior Hailey Carter said.
The event helps create memories for students that may last a lifetime.
“Hailey [Carter] taught me how to dance, and I got to eat free food,” senior Rylan Sparks said.
Since it is their last school-sponsored dance, the 2026 Homecoming can be a sentimental time for seniors as they transition into life after high school.
“I’m excited to have one last event with my friends,” senior Isabelle Daily said.

“Having a date doesn’t matter,” senior Lawson Keeling said, “You should get ready with your friends because that’s the best part. Don’t just stand in the corner at the dance, but instead try to be involved. No one will judge you.”
