Student Council welcomes its new president for the 2026-2027 school year, Luis Bouche, commonly known as LJ. This is his second year in StuCo, so becoming president will be significant for him. To run for president, a student must have been a StuCo officer for one year.
“I felt excited when the results came out,” Bouche said. “This is what I have wanted to do since the end of freshman year.”
Bouche credits his accomplishment to his peers currently in office and current StuCo sponsor Dr. Michaelle Coker. He is truly inspired by the work they’ve done for StuCo.
“The past officers motivated me to run,” Bouche said. “With their encouragement and Dr. Coker’s, I decided to run.”
Leading into the new school year, Bouche intends on improving participation in the club. Currently, members earn points by volunteering or helping in events led by StuCo.
“I plan to bring back a better point system,” Bouche said. “This year there wasn’t much participation, so there wasn’t much point counting or points.”
Aside from participating in StuCo, Bouche also likes to engage in other extracurricular activities such as tennis and band. His involvement around the school makes him even more qualified to be the new StuCo president.
“I am proud to run this amazing club,” Bouche said.
