Student Spotlight: Senior accepted into prestigious college program
When senior Bolu Odunuga applied for an intensive summer lab program through her college, University of Texas at Dallas, she never expected to get in. After all, it isn’t very often that students get selected for highly competitive programs such as the Clark Summer Research Program. Despite the odds, Odunuga was accepted.
Now, she will get the honor of participating in a two-month long biochemistry research program where she will work under a Private Investigator, or PI, starting June 1, in Dallas.
“I’m really eager to learn and find out more about what happens in the lab,” Odunuga said. “I literally have no idea what happens there.”
Odunuga first applied to the program because she felt it would give her experience regarding her major.
“I plan on majoring in neuroscience,” Odunuga said. “The program resembles the type of environment I will have at UTD, and becoming familiar with it will help me feel more comfortable for when I actually have to be in a lab, which is usually junior or senior year.”
While she doesn’t know what she wants to do for a job, Odunuga said she does know why she chose this major.
“I chose neuroscience as my major because I’ve always been interested in the brain, psychology, physiology, and anatomy,” Odunuga said. “I’m really excited to dive into it!”
