Stephen F. Austin State University, like many other universities, is allowing test optional admission for the Fall 2021 applicants. Incoming freshman students who opt for test optional admission will be reviewed based on high school rank and additional information submitted by the applicant. The university encourages students to submit any available standardized test scores with their application, but makes clear that unsubmitted test scores will not create an unfair advantage or disadvantage for future student admission.

Stephen F. Austin prompts future Lumberjacks to submit test scores in order to be considered further for scholarships. There are hundreds of scholarships that the university offers to new and returning students. To find specific scholarships, SFASU provides the following scholarship search engine: Stephen F Austin State University Scholarships: Our Opportunities.

SFASU is a rolling admissions university, meaning there is no application deadline. However, there are many incentives if individuals apply early. For early admission, a housing and admission application must be submitted to the university by December 1. Special benefits for early applicants consist of early notification of residence halls and priority sign-up for orientation, which provides the best opportunity to secure desired class schedules.

SFASU uses ApplyTexas for admission to the university. Applicants will need to submit an application through Apply Texas, a high school transcript, and optional SAT/ACT test scores to be considered for enrollment. There is also an application fee of $50 that will need to be paid at the end of the application process. If individuals think they could qualify for an application fee waiver, click the Application Fee Waiver Information.
