CH clubs bring Christmas to children everywhere

FCCLA, Student Council and Beta Club partnered with Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Organization this year to help raise money and toys. They asked for donations of $5 or more.

The fundraiser yielded $375 total with $100 from StuCo, $165 from Beta and $110 from FCCLA. According to FCCLA President Taylar Russell, the amount of money exceeded expectations.

“The fundraiser was really really successful,” she said. “We were able to donate more than we thought.”

On Friday, Dec. 8, officers from FCCLA, StuCo and Beta and their sponsors bought toys with the donated money. Then they were dropped off with the Salvation Army.

“Select officers and their advisors went Friday and bought all the toys,” Russell said. “Then, we took the toys to the organization.”

All of the toys were donated to children of the Nacogdoches community.

“The money is going towards local kids in Nacogdoches that don’t get the Christmas that they want,” Russell said. “It’s very exciting.”
